The World Weather Research Programme (WWRP) of the World Meteorological Organization (WMO) invites the submission of abstracts for the WWRP 2027 Conference on “Advancing Weather Science for Resilient Societies”, to be held from 23 to 25 August 2027 at Nanjing University, China. 

• 1 September 2026: call for abstracts, abstract submission opens
• 31 December 2026: the deadline for submission of abstracts

Abstracts may be submitted for:

• Oral presentations (plenary and/or parallel sessions)
• Poster presentations

The Scientific Organizing Committee will determine the final format of accepted contributions to ensure a balanced and inclusive programme.

If you are submitting an abstract, you must be the presenter and first author.

• Authors must submit abstracts in English.
• A maximum of two abstracts may be submitted per participant as first author, of which only one may be for an oral presentation.
• Authors must select one of the themes listed in the submission form (and below).
• Abstracts should clearly state the objectives, methods, key findings (or expected outcomes), and relevance to at least one of the conference themes.
• The abstract is limited to 250 words, and must be text only and entirely self-contained (no links).

The conference strongly encourages:

• Contributions from early-career scientists and professionals.
• Submissions from researchers and practitioners in developing and least-developed countries.
• Interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary contributions bridging science, operations, and society.

Submission of an abstract implies that organizers have permission to reproduce the abstract in the program and reports related to the conference.

All abstract submissions will be made via the Oxford Abstracts system.
